World Water Day
As we marked World Water Day this past weekend, it’s a moment to pause and recognize something we rely on every day but rarely stop to think about…
Clean, safe water supports our health (“stay hydrated” only works if water is safe), and powers nearly every system around us, from agriculture (72% of global freshwater use) to energy, manufacturing, and the built environment.
Water’s ability to efficiently transfer heat makes it essential across commercial and industrial applications. But as it moves through systems, changing conditions—especially flow and temperature—can introduce risk, including bacterial growth.
That’s where water safety becomes critical.
Methods such as chlorination, while sometimes debated, remain the most effective and widely used tools to protect public health, providing reliable, residual protection against pathogens.
As our systems become more complex, water safety is no longer just a background consideration—it’s foundational to how we design, operate, and protect the environments we depend on.
