Transforming an Industrial Space into a World-Class Art Repository

The project consisted of renovating and converting an existing building into a multi-story art storage facility in Brooklyn. The building is approximately 150,000 square feet that includes the Basement, Ground Floor and 2nd Floor.

The Basement was designed primarily for art storage and mechanical space, with the Ground Floor to include art storage, Offices, Loading Dock, viewing areas and other auxiliaries, and the 2nd Floor dedicated to art storage. The art storage areas were designed to match museum-level control for temperature and humidity for protection and preservation of the artwork. Special care was given to AHU sizing and selection to ensure a fast response to changes in indoor ambient conditions. Additionally, close attention was paid to the design and installation of the building’s facade and vapor barrier to control infiltration and moisture migration.
