Engineering a World-Class Cultural Destination

The Whitney Museum of Art relocated to 99 Gansevoort Street and includes approximately 50,000 sq.ft. of double-height indoor galleries and 13,000 sq.ft. of outdoor exhibition space and terraces facing the High Line. An expansive gallery for special exhibitions is approximately 18,000 sq.ft. in area, making it the largest column-free museum gallery in New York City.

Additional exhibition space includes a lobby gallery, two floors for the permanent collection, and a special exhibitions gallery on the top floor. The building also has a state-of-the-art education center and research library, art storage and conservation labs, office/support space, a shop, an informal cafe and a 200-seat theater for public programs. This project achieved LEED Gold certification.
