A New Home for Architectural Creativity

The BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) office relocation from Lower Manhattan to the DUMBO section of Brooklyn involved a 50,000 sq.ft. renovation that included open and enclosed offices, an Innovation Center, state-of-the-art design studio, materials library, workshops, conference rooms, pantry and storage spaces.

JB&B worked in close collaboration with BIG to develop a vibrant, expansive space with an open ceiling that coordinated every detail of the services running overhead. A VRF HVAC system was utilized to maximize the floor plate and minimize overhead ductwork. Working with fixtures of BIG’s own design, LightBox Studios (JB&B’s lighting division) created lighting layouts that were both decorative and functional, with levels fine-tuned to the specific needs and desired ambiance of various zones in the space, from model shop to communal dining.
