The Stanley Manne ’52 Research Institute at The Bronx High School of Science
A New Home for Discovery and Exploration
The Stanley Manne ’52 Research Institute, a new state-of-the-art research facility for The Bronx High School of Science, consists of approximately 10,000 gross sq.ft. of university-grade research lab space with two (2) floors above grade (including the Ground Floor).
The main program elements of the project include labs for microbiology and animal behavior (each accommodating up to 24 students) as well as lab support such as dry storage, microscopy, cold rooms, sensitive storage/sterilization, chemical storage, an incubation room and animal rooms. Other program elements include office/administration spaces, pantry, breakout room, lobby, hallways, toilets, and mechanical and electrical rooms. With lab and research capabilities comparable to leading research universities and companies, the new building is the most transformative improvement in the school’s history.
